Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Sherwood Park is a chapter program of Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area (BGCBigs). Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are based on the foundation of mentoring. Mentoring connects children and youth to community resources that engage young people in activities and relationships that support their growth and continued well-being. Mentoring is simply interacting in a positive, supportive and enriching capacity with children and youth. Young brains are continuously under construction throughout childhood and adolescence, and interacting with caring adults strengthens the architecture of developing brains.
Big Brothers Big Sisters in Sherwood Park is a community supported program committed to the healthy development of children, youth and their families by providing and supporting positive mentoring relationships and opportunities to develop strengths and interpersonal skills that enhance children and youth's long-term success in life.
