Right to Live Canada is a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit start-up dedicated to realizing the right to live as a practical, supported, and executable choice.

Founded in response to poverty-driven euthanasia among Canadians with disabilities, we are building Continuity—a service, financial, technological, and institutional framework that helps people remain connected to preferable living futures. Our work spans Continuity Service, Continuity Insurance, Social Brokerage, and Corporate Farming to create scalable solutions that protect and extend the right to live.

------ ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior Research Manager to lead the Research & Evidence Department within our Global Narrative Integrity Team.

This senior volunteer leadership role is responsible for ensuring that the organization's briefing notes, research reports, policy summaries, and public communications are supported by rigorous, transparent, and evidence-based research. Working closely with editorial, media intelligence, and public affairs teams, the successful candidate will oversee research standards, fact-checking, and evidence development while leading a multidisciplinary team of volunteer researchers.

------ KEY RESPONSIBILITY
-- Lead the Research & Evidence Department.
-- Supervise Research Analysts, Fact Check Specialists, Citation Specialists, and Academic Liaison Volunteers.
-- Develop research standards, verification procedures, and evidence review processes.
-- Verify factual claims using academic, government, and primary sources.
-- Conduct literature reviews and prepare evidence packages supporting editorial, public affairs, and strategic communications.
-- Maintain and expand the organization's research library and citation database.
-- Review statistics, policy reports, legislative documents, and healthcare research for accuracy and context.
-- Collaborate with Media Intelligence, Editorial, and Public Affairs teams to support evidence-based decision-making.
-- Mentor volunteers in research methods, source evaluation, and citation practices.
-- Improve research workflows, documentation standards, and knowledge management systems.

------ QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
-- Experience in research leadership, public policy, journalism, academia, healthcare research, or a related analytical field.
-- Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews, policy research, or evidence synthesis.
-- Strong understanding of research methodology, source evaluation, and fact-checking principles.
-- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-- Exceptional analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and attention to detail.
-- Experience interpreting academic publications, government reports, statistical datasets, and primary source documentation.
-- Strong organizational and project management skills.
-- Comfort working remotely with a high degree of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
-- Experience mentoring researchers or coordinating multidisciplinary research projects.
-- Commitment to a full-time volunteer schedule of approximately 35 hours per week.

Preferred:
-- Graduate education or advanced experience in public policy, health sciences, journalism, law, education, political science, sociology, or another research-intensive discipline.
-- Experience working with citation management software, academic databases, and evidence management systems.
-- Familiarity with systematic reviews, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and evidence-based policy analysis.
-- Experience supporting nonprofit organizations, think tanks, universities, healthcare institutions, or research organizations.
-- Knowledge of healthcare policy, ethics, disability policy, or Medical Assistance in Dying.
-- Interest in building a globally recognized evidence and research capability supporting responsible journalism and informed public discourse.

This is a full-time volunteer role requiring a minimum commitment of 35 hours per week. Right to Live Canada is an early-stage, founder-led organization pursuing rapid national and global expansion. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable with startup intensity, high responsibility, and a culture of serious dedication to the mission.
