Manufacturing Advisor, Open Artificial Brain Life Support (ABLS) Project (Remote, Part Time or Full Time)

Time Commitment: Part-time or full-time volunteer commitment (20+ hours/week). Duration negotiable, four-month minimum.

This is a remote volunteer opportunity with Right to Live Canada, a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit start-up.

------ THE MISSION
Right to Live Canada exists to realize the right to live as a practical, supported, executable choice.
We were founded in response to systemic poverty-driven euthanasia amongst Canadians with disabilities: cases where Canadians choose MAiD because they cannot access the essentials required to continue living. This is a specific form of economic euthanasia: euthanasia where a preferable living future existed, but was not achieved.
That crisis remains our founding application point. It is not the boundary of our work.

------ ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a part-time or full-time, volunteer, and remote role for a Manufacturing Advisor supporting the Open ABLS project.
The Manufacturing Advisor helps ensure that the Open ABLS platform evolves toward practical manufacturability, lower cost, easier assembly, improved serviceability, and eventual commercial translation. 
Working with the Hardware Lead and Build Lead, the Manufacturing Advisor reviews component selection, fabrication methods, sourcing options, assembly efficiency, supply chain considerations, and opportunities to reduce manufacturing complexity while preserving functionality.
Responsibilities include reviewing mechanical designs for manufacturability, recommending fabrication improvements, identifying lower-cost components, advising on assembly processes, supporting supplier selection, and contributing to long-term production planning.
This role is ideal for someone with experience turning prototypes into manufacturable products.

------ QUALIFICATIONS
Universal Requirement:
-- You must possess good equipment for virtual meetings, both video and audio. 
-- You must attend virtual meetings with the capability to give it your full attention, like a dedicated office room or space. 

Required:
-- Experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, or related fields.
-- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
-- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
-- Experience working with engineering teams.
-- Strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred:
-- Medical device manufacturing.
-- Contract manufacturing experience.
-- Supply chain experience.
-- Cost optimization.
-- Product commercialization.
-- Startup manufacturing.

------ TIME COMMITMENT
This is a part-time or full-time volunteer role requiring a minimum commitment of 20+ hours per week. Right to Live Canada is an early-stage, founder-led organization pursuing rapid national and global expansion. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable with startup intensity, high responsibility, and a culture of serious dedication to the mission.
