HEAD OF OPERATIONS (VOLUNTEER)
Organization: Right to Live Canada
Location: Remote (Canada-wide)
Time Commitment: 7 - 12 hours per week (Flexible)
------ THE MISSION
Canada is currently facing a human rights crisis of international consequence:
poverty-driven disability euthanasia (MAiD). Individuals, blocked by
state-enforced poverty, are choosing to end their lives with state assistance
due to being unable to access essentials such as medical procedures, supportive
housing, or even food. This systemic failure has triggered a United Nations
investigation, criticism from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and global
condemnation.
Right to Live Canada is engineering the only viable, system-level alternative to
this crisis -- Social Brokerage. By creating a pipeline between sources of raw
capital and specific one-time support plans ("Stability Mandates") for
individuals in the process of applying for MAiD, the organization creates the
"viable alternative" that the system itself mandates its assessors to find but
does not currently provide. This represents the world's first market-based
solution to poverty-driven euthanasia and the creation of a social impact credit
system which exchanges philanthropic capital for verified, life-affirming
outcomes, akin to carbon credits.
Right to Live Canada is currently pre-pilot.
------ THE ROLE
Right to Live Canada is seeking a Volunteer Head of Operations to design, build,
and run the internal structure of the organization. This role exists because the
work has reached a level of complexity that cannot be carried by a single
individual.
The Head of Operations works directly with the Founder / Executive Director. The
operating model is simple: priorities and objectives are set at the executive
level; the Head of Operations designs the structure required to execute them and
then runs that structure. This includes defining roles, forming teams,
establishing workflows, tracking progress, and ensuring projects continue moving
forward without constant executive intervention.
The Head of Operations is responsible for holding operational context -- knowing
what exists, what is active, what is stalled, and what requires intervention.
This includes monitoring volunteer performance, replacing non-performing
contributors when necessary, and keeping work aligned with agreed objectives.
------ RESPONSIBILITIES
--- Design and maintain the internal operating structure of the organization,
including roles, teams, and active projects
--- Translate executive priorities into executable project structures and
workflows
--- Stand up new initiatives by defining scope, staffing needs, timelines, and
coordination methods
--- Track project progress across the organization and intervene when work stalls
--- Create and maintain a centralized operational dashboard using cloud-based
tools that provides leadership with clear, real-time visibility into
projects, roles, and status
--- Manage volunteer performance, including onboarding, replacement, and
offboarding when necessary
--- Maintain operational visibility so leadership does not need to carry
day-to-day execution context
--- Ensure work produced is usable, complete, and aligned with agreed objectives
--- Create and maintain lightweight systems for documentation, handoffs, and
continuity
------ WHO THIS IS FOR
This role is for someone who is comfortable building structure where none exists
and operating without constant oversight. The Head of Operations should be able
to take a loosely defined objective and turn it into an organized, functioning
system.
This role is a good fit for someone who:
--- Has experience in operations, program management, project management, or
organizational execution
--- Thinks naturally in systems, dependencies, and workflows
--- Is comfortable coordinating people and replacing contributors who are not
performing
--- Can hold operational context across multiple parallel initiatives
--- Prefers responsibility and clarity over formal authority or titles
--- Is reliable, self-directed, and capable of sustained follow-through
This role is NOT a fit for individuals who require rigid job descriptions, frequent direction, or a fully formed organization to step into.
------ TO APPLY
Email a resume to volunteer@righttolive.ca with the headline 'Head of Operations Application' or apply via the form on our website at www.RightToLive.ca/volunteer. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
--- Executive-level operating experience building an organization from scratch --- Direct collaboration with the Founder / Executive Director --- Portfolio-grade responsibility over real systems, not theory or advocacy --- LinkedIn skill endorsements reflecting verified operational contributions --- Formal letter of reference upon successful completion --- High-impact work tied to nationally significant, life-affecting outcomes
