Head of Business Operations (Remote, Full Time)

Ongoing
HEAD OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS — FULL-TIME

Organization: Right to Live Canada
Location: Remote (Canada, United States or Europe)
Commitment: Full-time (35 hours/week), minimum four-month commitment.

--- About Right to Live Canada

Right to Live Canada is a virtual Canadian non-profit developing practical solutions to ensure that choosing life remains a viable option for people facing severe hardship. Founded in response to poverty-driven MAiD cases among Canadians with disabilities, the organization is building innovative systems that connect people to sustainable, preferable living futures.

Our work focuses on four initiatives:

* Continuity Service
* Continuity Insurance
* Social Brokerage
* Research & Development

We are currently in the pre-pilot stage and are building the operational foundation for future growth.

--- The Role

We are seeking a **Head of Business Operations** to help transform our founder-led startup into a scalable volunteer organization.

This is a strategic operations role—not an administrative or recruiting position. You will design and implement the systems that enable the organization to grow efficiently, including organizational structure, workflows, reporting, operating procedures, dashboards, meeting rhythms, and execution processes.

Working closely with the Executive Director, you will establish practical operating systems that allow volunteer teams to function independently while supporting rapid organizational growth.

--- Responsibilities

* Design and implement the organization's operating model.
* Define departments, reporting relationships, workflows, and decision-making processes.
* Identify structural gaps, duplicated responsibilities, and operational bottlenecks.
* Develop role descriptions, responsibilities, and onboarding frameworks.
* Create SOPs, templates, checklists, and repeatable processes.
* Design task management, knowledge management, and reporting systems.
* Build dashboards to track priorities, deliverables, blockers, and progress.
* Establish effective leadership meetings, planning cycles, and accountability processes.
* Work with leadership to prioritize and implement operational improvements.
* Develop a 30/60/90-day roadmap for organizational scaling.

--- Qualifications

We're looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following:

* Business Operations (BizOps)
* Strategy & Operations
* Startup Operations
* Organizational Design
* Business Architecture
* Process Improvement
* PMO or Transformation Management
* COO-track Operations
* Non-profit Operations

Ideal candidates are systems thinkers who can simplify complexity, work comfortably in ambiguity, document processes clearly, and build practical systems that volunteers will actually use.

--- First-Month Priorities

Expected early deliverables include:

* Revised organizational operating model
* Department and team structure
* Priority role catalogue
* Workflow and process maps
* Task board and dashboard recommendations
* Weekly operating cadence
* 30/60/90-day implementation roadmap

To apply, please email your resume to volunteer@righttolive.ca

If you enjoy building organizations from the ground up and creating systems that enable teams to scale, we'd love to hear from you.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
--- Executive-level operating experience building an organization from scratch
--- Direct collaboration with the Founder / Executive Director
--- Portfolio-grade responsibility over real systems, not theory or advocacy
--- LinkedIn skill endorsements reflecting verified operational contributions
--- Formal letter of reference upon successful completion
--- High-impact work tied to nationally significant, life-affecting outcomes
