Electronics Lead, Open Artificial Brain Life Support (ABLS) Project (Remote, Part Time or Full Time)

Time Commitment: Part-time or full-time volunteer commitment (20+ hours/week). Duration negotiable, four-month minimum.

This is a remote volunteer opportunity with Right to Live Canada, a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit start-up.

------ THE MISSION
Right to Live Canada exists to realize the right to live as a practical, supported, executable choice.
We were founded in response to systemic poverty-driven euthanasia amongst Canadians with disabilities: cases where Canadians choose MAiD because they cannot access the essentials required to continue living. This is a specific form of economic euthanasia: euthanasia where a preferable living future existed, but was not achieved.
That crisis remains our founding application point. It is not the boundary of our work.

------ ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a part -time or full-time, volunteer, and remote role for an Electronics Lead supporting the Open ABLS project.
The Electronics Lead owns all electrical and electronic systems within the machine. This includes sensors, wiring, power distribution, connectors, battery backup, emergency stop systems, signal reliability, and electronics layout. 
Working closely with the Software Lead and Hardware Lead, the Electronics Lead develops reliable instrumentation capable of supporting repeatable testing and data acquisition throughout the project.
Responsibilities include circuit design, sensor integration, PCB development, embedded electronics, electrical testing, power management, troubleshooting, wiring documentation, and hardware validation.

------ QUALIFICATIONS
Universal Requirement:
-- You must possess good equipment for virtual meetings, both video and audio. 
-- You must attend virtual meetings with the capability to give it your full attention, like a dedicated office room or space. 

Required:
-- Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
-- Experience with embedded electronics.
-- Knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
-- Experience integrating sensors.
-- Strong troubleshooting ability.

Preferred:
-- PCB design.
-- Embedded microcontroller development.
-- Instrumentation systems.
-- Laboratory electronics.
-- Open hardware development.

------ TIME COMMITMENT
This is a part-time or full-time volunteer role requiring a minimum commitment of 20+ hours per week. Right to Live Canada is an early-stage, founder-led organization pursuing rapid national and global expansion. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable with startup intensity, high responsibility, and a culture of serious dedication to the mission.
