Director of Care Operations (Remote, Part-Time)

Ongoing
Internal Role: Head of Continuity Service
Right to Live Canada | Remote | Part-Time

------ ABOUT THE ROLE
Right to Live Canada is developing Continuity Service, a system designed to help people facing a potential-death situation identify, finance, and execute a preferable living future.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Care Operations to build and lead the Continuity Service Department from early-stage concept to a functioning, testable service.

Critical requirement: You must have personally built, launched, and managed a complex care-delivery, care-navigation, case-management, patient-support, disability-support, community-care, or comparable human-services operation.

We are looking for someone who can credibly say: “I built it. I launched it. I ran it.”

------ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-- Build the complete Continuity Service operating model and workflows.
-- Design intake, assessment, case management, planning, financing, execution, monitoring, and closure processes.
-- Establish procedures, decision trees, documentation, quality controls, escalation pathways, and operational standards.
-- Build and manage the initial Continuity Service team and define roles and responsibilities.
-- Develop healthcare, disability, housing, financial, rehabilitation, and other provider/resource networks.
-- Establish domestic and international resource pathways where appropriate.
-- Lead tabletop cases and testing to identify and fix operational weaknesses.
-- Set readiness criteria for moving from development into live operation.
-- Own service strategy, staffing, quality, performance, procedures, provider networks, and continuous improvement.

------ QUALIFICATIONS
Universal Requirements:
-- Good video and audio equipment for virtual meetings.
-- A quiet, dedicated environment where you can give virtual meetings your full attention.

Required:
--Significant professional experience in care operations, care delivery, care navigation, case management, patient services, complex care, disability services, human services, or a related field.
-- Proven experience building or significantly developing a service operating system, not simply working within one.
-- Experience designing workflows, staffing structures, intake systems, case-management processes, quality systems, and provider networks.
-- Experience launching and managing a service in real-world operation.
-- Strong operational judgment, systems thinking, documentation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
-- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and turn ambiguity into practical systems.
-- High standards for execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Preferred:
-- Healthcare startups or digital health.
-- Complex care or patient navigation.
-- Disability or community services.
-- Virtual/integrated care.
-- International care navigation.
-- High-complexity case management.
-- Experience building a new service line, agency, or operating division.

Professional licensing: Clinical or social-service licensing may be valuable but is not automatically required. Service-building and operational experience are the priority.

------ TIME COMMITMENTT
10–12 hours/week for at least four months, with longer-term commitment strongly preferred. Weekly team meeting attendance is required. Applicants must have reliable video/audio equipment and a suitable environment for focused virtual meetings.

------ WHAT YOU WILL BUILD
The successful candidate will help create the Continuity Service operating model, department structure, case-management system, service manual, provider network, quality and escalation systems, initial team, pilot process, and ultimately the functioning service.
