Vice-Chair (Board of Director position)

Position Description:  Vice President

The role of the Vice President is to assist the President in the general management and supervision of the affairs and operations of the corporation. The Vice President will assume the duties of the President in the absence or inability of the President. The Vice President is responsible for overseeing the effective management of the organization’s infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the President of the Board of Directors, the Vice President’s responsibilities include:

1.	Be a member in good standing with PAVRO

2.	Providing leadership to PAVRO as part of the Board of Directors.

3.	Providing support to the President. Assists with the preparation of agendas
for regular and General Meetings, planning for the Retreat, act as a sounding
board and is involved in discussions.

4.	Acting as signing officer of the organization.

5.	Serving as Chair, Conference Committee and ensures communication link with Conference Committee and the Board.

6.	Ensuring effective management of PAVRO’s volunteers including Board
members, Chair of committees and committee volunteers (assisting with recruitment, screening, orientation, placement, training and recognition).

7.	Supporting the work of the following Board Directors:
a.	 Director, Advocacy
b.	 Director, Member Marketing and Engagement
c.	Director, Professional Development

8.	Additional tasks as they relate to the position

9.	Ensuring regular revision of Bylaws and policies

10.	Support and work within the expectations of PAVRO’s commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression.

10.  Complete/respond to any responsibilities associated with being a Board
member (attending, preparing for, and participating in meetings/conference/AGM/retreat;  financial accountability and management of portfolio budget; reports; updating website information; policies; promoting PAVRO; recruiting potential Board/Committee members; etc.)
Additional Details & Skills Required
The Vice President is elected for a one-year term (renewable for a second term if the President completes a second term) and is expected to move into the President position at the end of their term.  Must be prepared to attend all Board meetings, trainings, conferences, retreats as well as any appropriate committee or outside meetings; may need to travel on occasion.
