Pawd Leader - ElderDog Canada - Fredericton, NB

ElderDog Canada has vacancies in some of our chapters or Pawds across Canada and is ready to welcome new volunteer leaders to this rewarding and meaningful role. ElderDog is a 100% volunteer-run, national charity dedicated to ageing people and ageing dogs. ElderDog: • Helps seniors in the care and well-being of their canine companions; • Rehomes older dogs who have lost their human companion due to illness, relocation or death; • Supports research and educates people including health professionals about the human- animal bond and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors. ElderDog operates in chapters or Pawds in communities across the country. The structure of each Pawd includes a leadership team of program coordinators, volunteers in non-leadership roles, and a Pawd Leader who provides overall leadership and serves as a liaison with National Office. Responsibilities and Requirements As Pawd Leader, you would: • have an understanding of and respect for the senior-canine bond; • possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills; • represent ElderDog Canada’s goals and mission in accordance with ElderDog’s Credo, Organizational Ethic, code of conduct, principles, and practices; • understand the Pawd as part of ElderDog Canada and accountable to the Federal Charities Directorate; • become familiar with all facets of ElderDog programs and services offered nationally and locally and develop, through mentorship, an in-depth understanding of all ElderDog Canada’s programs, guidelines, branding, and messaging; • work in community with members of the Pawd leadership team to facilitate ElderDog “business” according to ElderDog policies and guidelines; • facilitate a spirit of cooperation and mutual regard within the Pawd; • connect with other ElderDog Pawd Leaders across the country; • call and chair Pawd meetings; • participate in bi-monthly virtual meetings with other Pawd Leaders; • communicate with Pawd members and National Office on an ongoing basis; • represent ElderDog at information and outreach events and in the community; • serve as back-up for other roles as needed and serve as main contact for urgent matters related to ElderDog’s mission; • serve as an ambassador for ElderDog Canada and the Pawd.
