Various Volunteer Opportunities at Britannia Shipyards and the Steveston Tram

Do you have a keen interest in the history of Steveston? Would you like the opportunity to learn more about it while making new connections and gaining valuable skills in a fun and inclusive environment? Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site and the Steveston Tram are accepting new volunteers. Both long-term and short-term positions are available. Long term requires a commitment of a minimum of two shifts per month for six months. Short term opportunities are on occasion. Positions include: Britannia Shipyards: Heritage Greeters (long term): Greeting visitors as they enter the site, directing them to the site's different features, sharing basic information about Britannia Shipyards, informing them of any current events and programming. Special events and Programming (short term): Assisting with activities, sharing basic information about Britannia, assisting with crowd flow. Dockside (short term): Greeting visitors on the docks, reminding visitors of dock safety rules, and ensuring overall safety. School Programs (long term): Assisting the school program facilitator in setting up and cleaning up the program, helping manage the group, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and supporting the school program facilitator in any other tasks necessary for the program's success. Steveston Tram: Tram Greeters (long term): Welcome guests, share a brief history, highlight key features of the museum, and help set the tone for a great visit. Special Events (long term): Helping with activities, sharing basic Tram information, and assisting with crowd flow. Specialist (long term): For those with specialized knowledge of Trams, trains, or public transportation. *Some positions require standing for long periods of time. *Some positions require being outside in varied weather conditions. *Must be 16 years and up. *Must undergo a police information check.
