Job Title Front-End Web Developer (Static HTML & WordPress Migration) Project Type Short-term contract / Fixed-scope project Project Overview We are seeking an experienced front-end web developer to migrate an existing WordPress website to a clean, fast, and maintainable pure HTML website. The goal is to eliminate WordPress-related operational and security issues while preserving content structure, SEO value, and user experience. The developer will work directly with the existing WordPress site as the source of truth and recreate it as a static website. Limited use of PHP is expected for essential dynamic functionality (e.g., contact forms). Responsibilities Analyze the existing WordPress website (themes, content structure, URLs) Rebuild the website using pure HTML, CSS, and minimal JavaScript Ensure the new site visually and functionally matches (or improves upon) the current site Migrate all relevant content from WordPress to static pages Implement SEO best practices, including: Preserving URL structure where possible Meta titles and descriptions Proper heading hierarchy Create and integrate PHP-based contact forms (or similar lightweight dynamic pages) Ensure forms are secure (basic validation, spam protection, email delivery) Optimize the site for: Performance Accessibility Cross-browser compatibility Mobile responsiveness Provide a clean and well-organized project structure Assist with deployment and handover documentation if needed Required Skills & Experience Strong proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3 Solid understanding of JavaScript (vanilla JS; no frameworks required) PHP experience, specifically for small dynamic features (e.g., contact forms) Hands-on experience working with WordPress (content extraction, theme understanding) Experience converting WordPress or CMS-based websites to static websites Understanding of SEO fundamentals and migration considerations Familiarity with basic web security practices (form validation, sanitization) Ability to work independently and deliver to agreed milestones Deliverables Fully functional static HTML website PHP scripts for required dynamic functionality (e.g., contact forms) Source code with clear folder structure Deployment-ready build Brief documentation explaining: How to update content How PHP forms work Any dependencies or setup steps Project Timeline Immediate start preferred Estimated duration: to be discussed based on site size and complexity Benefits: Networking for formal employment Hiring potentiality at the same company Job reference letter for Canadian & professional work experience How to Apply Send your resume and cover letter to mike@suncloudsoftware.com Please include: Relevant portfolio or examples of similar migration projects Brief description of your experience with WordPress-to-static conversions Availability and estimated timeline
