Looking for a Treasurer to rock our finances

We’re looking for an experienced Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. In this role, you’ll help manage our finances and play an active part in shaping GRR's future. 

Board meetings are scheduled approximately 8 times a year, plus one or two days a year for strategic planning and other Board activities. You'll also need to be available during our camp season (usually the first week in July and March) to issue payments to our mentors.

Position Summary:

As the Volunteer Treasurer, you’ll oversee the organization’s financial health while also actively contributing to hands-on activities that directly support our mission. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board members, you’ll provide strategic financial oversight to guide GRR's future.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with our Board, lead efforts around policy development, and shape key decisions to ensure financial best practices are followed as we work together toward our shared goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reporting. Participate in hands-on financial tasks as needed.

2. Team Engagement: Lead and collaborate with the financial team in developing policies, making strategic financial decisions, and ensuring best practices are followed.

3. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and financial transactions.

4. Financial Reporting: Present clear, concise financial reports to the team and stakeholders.

5. Financial Strategy: Provide insights to support decision-making and long-term strategic planning.

6. Audit & Review Preparation: Assist with audit and review processes, ensuring compliance.

7. Fundraising Support: Aid in fundraising activities, grants, and donor relations.

8. Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

• A background in finance or relevant experience
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Experience with financial controls and budget management
• Proficiency in online platforms and digital tools
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software

About Us:

GRR (Girls Rock Regina) is a volunteer-based organization whose mission is to amplify and
empower the voices of female, trans, Two-Spirit and gender-expansive youth and adults
through music creation, collaboration and performance. By providing a safer space for creative expression, we cultivate leadership skills and advocate for an equitable and inclusive society.

At GRR, you'll learn an instrument, form a band, write and record an original song, and perform at a live music venue. In addition to technical training, you'll take part in music and non-music workshops centred on creativity and confidence-building, such as songwriting, image & identity, self-defence, zine-making and more. No musical experience is required!
