Turning Point Society

Turning Point (formally the Central Alberta AIDS Network Society) was established on May 9th, 1988 as a community-based response to Central Alberta's HIV/AIDS crisis. In addition to health promotion, the charity has since incorporated programming specific to harm reduction and our Nation's rising opioid crisis, delivering specialized education, supplies, resources, and referrals to a wide range of communities and community members throughout Central Alberta.
Turning Point Society strives to provide Central Albertans with an inclusive, non-judgemental environment where community members can access confidential and individualized support and services. We have a long history of collaborating with the following priority populations: People using substances, including drug injection; Street involved individuals; Women at risk, with a focus on women of childbearing age; Indigenous peoples; the LGBTQ2+ community; Individuals living with, or at risk of sexually transmitted blood-borne infections (STBBI); Ethnocultural communities; and those involved in sex work.
As our community continues to evolve, so does our service delivery. We strive to identify and support the complex needs of these populations, treating each individual with dignity and respect.
