D.A.R.E.(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Works Foothills Society
The D.A.R.E. Works Foothills Society began its work in 1998 and, since that time, has overseen delivery of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to more than 10,000 elementary and middle school students in Foothills County.
The program is delivered by a municipal enforcement officer to grade five students in those Foothills School Division schools who request to receive the program.
The Society works in partnership with stakeholders who contribute funding to the program (Foothills County, the Towns of High River, Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley and the Village of Longview).
A volunteer board of directors governs the Society and ensures the program is adequately funded. The Board meets monthly at 7:00 pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Community Futures building in Okotoks.
