Position Summary Role Overview We are seeking a confident, engaging, and professional Freelance Public Relations & Communications Lead to support RiO’s senior leadership at community events, promotional opportunities and meetings. This is a part-time, event-based freelance role ideally suited to a strong communicator who can represent RiO with clarity, warmth, and professionalism. The successful candidate will primarily attend events and meetings alongside a senior RiO representative and take the lead in delivering non-technical presentations, speaking on behalf of RiO, and engaging external stakeholders Organization Summary Re-Imagine Ontario (RiO) is a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of youth and seniors in our community. Our mission is to improve the health, education and employment of vulnerable individuals, with particular focus on black youth, through community networks, development opportunities, and family supports. The Role This role requires an engaging communicator with strong public speaking ability who can confidently represent RiO at meetings and promotional events. The role is event-based and well-suited to someone who can adapt quickly, collaborate with senior leadership, and strengthen RiO’s public profile in the community. Success relies on the ability to deliver non-technical presentations and connect with audiences. . Key Responsibilities • Represent RiO at community, corporate, and government meetings and events. • Deliver prepared speaking points and messaging with confidence and professionalism. • Support RiO’s public profile by engaging with stakeholders in a clear, approachable manner. • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging and branding. • Occasionally assist with promotional materials, media communications, or follow-ups. Qualifications • Strong public speaking and presentation skills; comfortable addressing small and large groups. • Background in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field an asset. • Professional presence, with excellent interpersonal and networking abilities. • Flexible and reliable, able to attend events as scheduled (mostly in the Halton–Peel). • Experience working with or representing non-profits, charities, or community organizations is an asset but not required. Incentives • Freelance contract, incentivized per event (incentives to be discussed with shortlisted candidates). • Hours vary depending on RiO’s schedule of meetings and events. • Has potential to become a more developed longer term paid role.
