Perform for a Smile

At Perform for a Smile, we believe that every performance can spark joy and create lasting connections. Our mission is to bring joy and connection to senior residents through student performances, while providing young artists with opportunities to develop their skills and make a positive impact in their community. Born from a passion for the performing arts and a desire to bridge generations, our program transforms local retirement residences into stages for creativity and laughter. Each week, students from Appleby light up venues like Vistamere Retirement Residence with music, dance, comedy, and more—sharing their talents to create moments of magic for seniors who have so many stories to tell.

Our story is one of connection and community. We started with a simple idea: let our talented students share what they love, and in return, bring smiles to those who need them most. Whether you’re a singer, dancer, instrumentalist, or comedian, your performance is more than just an act—it’s a heartfelt gift. By joining us, you’re not only earning volunteer hours (including Duke of Ed credits) but also enriching lives and building intergenerational bonds that celebrate the beauty of both youth and experience.
