Digital Communications Volunteer | Website, Social Media

1-3 hours / weekly
ongoing
Embrace Multicultural Education Centre is a growing non-profit organization currently building its programs, community presence, and internal capacity.

We are looking for a volunteer to help develop and maintain our website, organize online content, and support our social media activities. This is a flexible role for someone who would like to contribute ideas and help shape Embrace’s digital presence from an early stage.

Main responsibilities may include:

Updating website pages, program information, events, photos, and registration links
Helping improve the website’s layout, organization, and usability
Checking for outdated information, broken links, or formatting issues
Writing and editing short website and social media content
Creating simple graphics and promotional posts using Canva or similar tools
Posting updates about Embrace’s programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and community activities
Helping organize photos, flyers, program descriptions, and other digital materials
Supporting the development of a simple content and social media plan
Suggesting practical ways to improve Embrace’s online visibility
Following privacy and photo-consent requirements when publishing content

The volunteer does not need to be experienced in every area. Responsibilities can be adjusted based on the volunteer’s skills and interests.

We welcome applicants with an interest in:

Website development or content management
Social media
Writing and communications
Graphic design
Photography or video editing
Digital marketing
Community and non-profit work

Experience with website platforms, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn is an asset. Strong communication, reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are important.

Most tasks can be completed remotely. Occasional attendance at programs or events in Oakville may be helpful but is not required.

The expected commitment is approximately 2 to 4 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. A minimum commitment of three months is preferred.

Applicants may provide a brief introduction, their availability, relevant skills or interests, and examples of previous work if available. A formal portfolio is not required.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Gain hands-on experience in website development, content creation, and social media while helping a growing non-profit build its digital presence. Develop practical skills, contribute creative ideas, create portfolio samples, and gain community-based Canadian volunteer experience. Volunteer hours and a reference letter may be provided after successful completion of the agreed commitment.
