🖥️ Tech Helper: Keeping Our Homes Connected

Community Living Oakville is looking for a tech-minded volunteer who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new skills and being hands-on!

Community Living Oakville is a local not-for-profit organization that supports people with developmental disabilities to live, work, participate and belong in their community. Our services include supported homes throughout Oakville, where people live with the assistance of our dedicated staff.

We’re looking for someone who would like to build on their technical skills while making a practical difference in our homes.

What would you be doing?
- Restarting computers and basic systems
- Setting up or reconnecting printers
- Troubleshooting basic printer issues
- Checking cameras and other devices
- Rebooting systems when needed
- Checking power connections and plugging in devices that may have become unplugged
- Following step-by-step instructions and basic troubleshooting guides
- Travelling to our group homes throughout Oakville to provide hands-on assistance

Some tasks may require getting into those hard-to-reach places — including reaching or crawling under desks to access power bars, plugs, modems or other equipment!

Who are we looking for?

Someone who:
- Has an interest in technology and troubleshooting
- Wants to develop their technical skills
- Is comfortable learning basic computer and technology skills
- Can follow instructions and work through troubleshooting steps
- Is reliable, patient and comfortable working independently
- Has reliable transportation and is comfortable travelling to different locations across Oakville
- Is comfortable with occasional bending, reaching or getting under a desk to access equipment

Flexible Commitment

This is an as-needed volunteer opportunity. Volunteers would generally receive at least 24 hours’ notice when assistance is required, and the timing can be flexible based on the volunteer’s availability.
