A4K Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer Position)
More than 1/3 of Canadian children can't participate in sports or recreational activities due to financial barriers. If you believe in the power of sport to help build the self-esteem and social skills of a child, get involved with us! Athletics For Kids Financial Assistance Society (A4K) provides families in need with financial assistance to pay for registration fees for their children’s sports. We believe that all BC children should have the opportunity to play sports and realize their full potential, regardless of their socioeconomic status. We have many enthusiastic and capable volunteers, but we need help to assist A4K’s Executive Director in coordinating our event volunteers. This volunteer position will likely require about 5 – 10 hours per month, depending on A4K’s activities. The Volunteer Coordinator will assist in recruiting new volunteers, maintain a database of volunteer information and skills, match volunteers to opportunities identified by the ED that suit their skills, and keep volunteers informed and engaged. Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities: • Assist in recruiting new volunteers • Collect volunteer information, availability, and maintain an up-to-date database • Obtain upcoming volunteer opportunities and needs from the ED and advise volunteers about these opportunities and about the organization in general • Match volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensure they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training • Schedule volunteers to their roles and identify/introduce them to their volunteer captain • Keep schedules and records of volunteers' work • Communicate regularly with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit • Assist the ED to coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities Volunteer Coordinator Requirements: • Experience in volunteering • Working knowledge of customer relationship management databases • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Detail-oriented and excellent organization and team-building skills • Most importantly, a passion for A4K’s mission to ensure all BC kids can participate in organized sports by supporting families in need with financial assistance
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
You will get hands-on experience in volunteer program management and implementation, become familiar with a nonprofit CRM, and have a chance to be a part of exciting events coordinating the volunteers.
