Refood Food Rescue Foundation


Based on a report by the BC Center for Disease Control (BCCDC), about one in nine households (11.8%) in British Columbia are considered food insecure. Refood Food Rescue Foundation is a non-profit charity that responds to this problem by reducing food waste, repurposing unattractive food, and re-educating the public about food.


By partnering with grocers and local non-profit organizations, we serve at-risk populations with surplus food that otherwise would have gone to waste. Since inception, Refood has delivered over 500,000 meals to those in need in the Greater Vancouver area. 


Profile / Volunteering position: 
No. of openings: 1


Time Commitment:  
At least 3-4 hours per week, virtual
Immediate start date; minimum commitment of 3 months is required
Weekly mandatory meeting: Mondays 6:30 PM PST, virtual


Accountabilities:
Maintaining the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policies and procedures
Recruitment of volunteers through composing job descriptions, posting, screening resumes, and interviewing
Provide orientation and on-boarding to new volunteers
Project management in engagement and retention


Requirements:
Ability to make hiring decisions based on merit
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
Experience in recruitment and hiring
Skills in engagement and retention programs
Familiar with relevant employment law
Professional, organized, and experience in project management
