Through projects such as Keys of Hope, Mothers of Courage, Loaves and Fish for Children, and Safe Shelter, RefugeRoot works with local partners and volunteers to create meaningful opportunities for vulnerable communities in Africa and beyond. Position Summary RefugeRoot is looking for a passionate and organized Volunteer Communications Manager to help strengthen our public voice, improve our storytelling, and coordinate communications across our website, social media platforms, newsletters, volunteer updates, and fundraising campaigns. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, storytelling, nonprofit communications, social media, and mission-driven work. The Communications Manager will work closely with RefugeRoot’s leadership, project managers, fundraising specialists, and field teams to ensure that project updates are shared in a professional, engaging, and consistent way. Key Responsibilities The Volunteer Communications Manager will help with: Communications Strategy Develop and support a clear communication plan for RefugeRoot’s projects and campaigns. Ensure messaging is consistent across the website, LinkedIn, YouTube, newsletters, donor communications, and volunteer updates. Help communicate RefugeRoot’s mission, values, and impact in a professional and compelling way. Content Creation Write and edit LinkedIn posts, website updates, newsletters, project summaries, donor messages, and volunteer announcements. Transform field updates, photos, videos, and testimonials into engaging stories for donors, partners, and the public. Support the creation of content for specific projects such as Mothers of Courage, Keys of Hope, Safe Shelter, and Loaves and Fish for Children. Social Media & Online Presence Help manage and plan RefugeRoot’s LinkedIn and other social media content. Prepare captions, hashtags, short campaign messages, and calls to action. Coordinate with the team to ensure regular and timely communication of project progress. Donor and Volunteer Communication Support the preparation of donor updates, fundraising campaign messages, and impact reports. Help welcome and inform volunteers through clear internal communication. Assist in preparing professional communication materials for churches, partners, sponsors, and grant opportunities. Coordination Work with project managers, fundraising specialists, and leadership to collect updates and communication needs. Maintain a simple content calendar for project updates, campaigns, and key announcements. Help organize communication materials such as photos, videos, project descriptions, and testimonials.
