STRIDE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities and fostering community support across Halton and surrounding areas. Help Shape the Future of Employment and Recovery STRIDE is seeking passionate community leaders to join our volunteer Board of Directors. As a Board Director, you will help guide an organization dedicated to supporting individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges in finding meaningful employment, building independence, and thriving within their communities. Why Join Our Board? ● Make a meaningful impact in your community ● Help shape the strategic direction of a respected nonprofit organization ● Contribute your professional expertise and leadership experience ● Collaborate with a dedicated team of passionate volunteer leaders ● Support innovative programs that change lives through employment Who We’re Looking For: We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about our mission and interested in governance leadership. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in: - Governance and strategic planning - Experience leveraging technologies, including AI - Finance, Accounting or Human Resources - Fundraising and community development - Business leadership and entrepreneurship Previous board experience is an asset but not required. We value diverse perspectives and welcome applicants at all stages of their leadership journey. The Commitment: ● Two-year volunteer term ● Six Board meetings per year (held September - June) ● Committee participation and Annual General Meeting attendance ● Approximately 2–4 hours per month ● Meetings are a mix of in-person (at our Milton office) and virtual options Our Commitment to Inclusion STRIDE welcomes applications from individuals who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Certification or Education Required
To serve effectively as a Board member candidates should possess a solid understanding of Board governance, legal & regulatory frameworks, & ethical standards. This knowledge is crucial for ensuring compliance & fostering integrity within the agency. Strong leadership & communication skills are essential for collaboration & decision-making. Additionally, a genuine interest in mental illness & addictions will enhance your ability to guide the agency's services, ensuring they meet community needs.
