Transitional Housing Support Volunteer
About Us: Fraser Valley Addictions and Recovery Hub (FVARH) is an organization that supports individuals navigating substance use, housing instability, and mental health challenges. Our transitional housing program in Abbotsford provides a safe, supportive environment where individuals can stabilize and take steps toward independent living. We focus on harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and peer empowerment. Position Overview: We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to support our transitional housing program. Volunteers play a key role in maintaining a welcoming and dignified environment for our residents by assisting with housing maintenance, offering peer support, and helping with yard and outdoor upkeep. Volunteer Duties: Housing Maintenance: Assist with upkeep tasks such as organizing common areas, helping with small repairs, cleaning, and ensuring the property remains safe and functional. Peer Support: Engage with residents in a respectful, non-judgmental manner. Provide companionship, lend a listening ear, and support residents in accessing resources or participating in daily routines. Yard Maintenance: Help maintain the exterior of the property, including lawn care, weeding, sweeping, and general tidiness of the outdoor space. What We’re Looking For: Compassionate and non-judgmental attitude Naloxone Trained Respect for harm reduction and trauma-informed practices Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries Time Commitment: Minimum 3 hours per week. Flexible scheduling available, including weekends.
