As a Coalition Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food rescue and distribution efforts. You'll assist with sorting rescued food, performing quality control, and helping our member agencies when they arrive to pick up their food donations. You'll be a part of a dedicated team working to create food prosperity across London. Time Commitment: Shifts are 9 am-Noon Monday to Friday. We prefer to have at least 2 volunteers per shift, and we ask that you attend at least one shift every two weeks. Please sign up in advance to ensure all shifts are covered. Location: The Food Hub is located at Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre at 244 Adelaide Street South. We are serviced by the London Transit Commission via route 16 SB at stop 86 (from Pond Mills) and 16 NB (from Masonville Mall) at stop 50. Free parking is available on-site Your Impact: Your role as a Coalition Assistant is essential to the London Food Coalition’s mission: ~ Food Rescue: Your support in the collection and organization of food helps us rescue an average of 10,000 pounds of food weekly, preventing it from going to waste. ~ Community Impact: Your efforts help us to distribute food to 27 member organizations, which include shelters, meal programs, and agencies serving vulnerable populations across London ~ Sustainability: Your work helps to create food prosperity for people throughout London while reducing our environmental footprint by diverting food from landfills. Please note: all volunteers with the London Food Coalition must have an annual Vulnerable Sector Police Check on file. New volunteers without a police check are asked to provide a receipt for payment to show that the process has been initiated (most VSCs are provided within 2 weeks) before they may begin volunteering. Please see https://www.londonpolice.ca/en/services/Vulnerable-Sector-Check.aspx for more information. Want to work with a friend? Let us know so we can schedule you for the same shift!
