Virtual Facilitator - (Western Canada)

The Support Group Facilitator plays a vital role in guiding and supporting group discussions alongside the other co-facilitator. This role involves helping members navigate discussions, addressing interpersonal challenges, connecting individuals with community resources, arranging guest speakers, and developing discussion topics—all while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. The Co-Facilitator ensures that all participants feel heard, supported, and respected, working to meet their needs within the scope of the group’s purpose. They will receive training and ongoing support from the Support Services Specialist at the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

These meetings are virtual, and the successful candidate must be comfortable facilitating virtual participation. Regular training and check-ins with the Support Services Specialist will be provided.
 
Personal lived experience with a brain tumour (as a patient, survivor, or caregiver) or professional experience in mental health, oncology, or related support services is preferred.

Candidates must be comfortable with public speaking and able to clearly communicate our services to both individuals and groups.

Additional Details & Skills Required
The Support Services Specialist from Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada will assist in training the appropriate candidate for this role. The Support Group Manual will be provided for guidance and reference in training. The Facilitator is invited to Volunteer Support Group meetings for ongoing professional development, networking and support.
Certification or Education Required
Volunteer must be 18+ years. Volunteers will be asked to obtain a Vulnerable person check due to the nature of the position.
