Misiones de Emergencia

Lima AB

We are a team of students, professionals, and retirees who work to improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations, guided by Catholic values of solidarity, empathy, and respect.

We began in March 2016 at Santa María Reina Church in San Isidro, Lima, Perú with 03 volunteers visiting a hospital. Today, we have more than 100 volunteers, serving 04 hospitals and involving over 50 families who cook.

Projects:

Under the platform Misiones de Emergencia, we manage the following projects:

*Puertas de Emergencia (Emergency Doors): We share food and snacks with the families of patients who spend the night in hospitals in Lima.

*Calles de Emergencia (Emergency Streets): We organize families who cook dinners in their homes, which are shared with people experiencing homelessness.

*Ollas de Emergencia: (Emergency Community Kitchens): Through an agreement with the Supermarket Plaza Vea, we recover food and groceries that are distributed to community kitchens in San Juan de Lurigancho.

*Aulas de Emergencia: (Emergency Classrooms): An educational strategy that enables adults in hard-to-reach areas to resume their schooling at no cost and with official recognition.

Achievements:
*Emergency Doors: Over 350,000 snacks shared since March 2016.
*Emergency Streets: Over 108,000 dinners shared since December 2020.
*Emergency Community Kitchens: 03 tons of food recovered monthly; 160 tons of food recovered since August 2020.
*Emergency Classrooms: 07 fully equipped and operational modules were installed, benefiting 400 people; 120 people have officially completed secondary education.

Winners of the Metropolitan Volunteer Award in the Religious Organizations category, granted by the Municipality of Lima in 2019, 2020, and 2022.

We are now starting a new project: La Casita del Padre Pio (Padre Pio´s little house): Implementation of a shelter aimed at children and their mothers or caregivers who come from different regions of the country and require a place to stay during the course of their medical treatment in Lima.

The minor and their mother or caregiver will be provided, free of charge, with accommodation, meals, spiritual support, psychological support and various workshops for the children and their mothers.
