Program Assistant
Program Assistants provide residents with the opportunity to engage in programs that provide social interaction, mental stimulation, physical activity and inclusion in the community. Volunteers will work closely with residents to provide them with the freedom to participate in a non-threatening activity that contributes to overall quality of life and well-being. As a Program Assistant, you will provide volunteer support to Recreation Staff for various games, activities and events (ie. Bocce Ball, Bowling, Balloon Badminton, Bingo, Baking, Birthday Party, Meal Clubs, etc.) including set-up, preparation, engaging with staff and residents during activities, and clean-up/take-down. Volunteers should have: -Working knowledge of the English language -Excellent people skills -Ability to work independently or with a support worker -Willingness and ability to take direction from staff -Sensitivity to the needs and challenges of residents
