Pet Therapy Assistant
The Pet Therapy Program is designed to provide residents with the opportunity to engage in an activity that provides social as well as sensory stimulation. Volunteers will work closely with the resident to provide them the freedom to participate in a non-threatening familiar activity that allows for expressions such as caring and nurturing. Volunteers should have/be: -a working knowledge of the English language -ability to interact comfortably with residents -able to maintain control of the pet while on premises -sensitivity and empathy, encourage sharing of memories and life experiences -able to offer companionship in a quiet and calm manner -documentation stating pet is current on all necessary vaccinations ** All pets must have up to date Rabies vaccination**
