Visioning for an arts centre in Leduc has been years in the making. Many art enthusiasts have come together to create a pilot project that is at the heart of the community, incorporating an inspiring blend of a variety of visual arts disciplines and beyond.
Gathering support and interest for this has been a goal initiated by The Leduc Art Club. In November 2016, The Leduc Art Club prepared and delivered a presentation to the Committee-of-the-Whole, a collegiate discussion of council members, to share this vision with the City and elicit support. The response from Council was positive a path was determined moving forward. Collaboratively our membership has recruited a variety of experts that now form the Leduc Arts Foundry Board.
In 2017, the Leduc Arts Foundry started the Annual Leduc Art Walk that had 6,000 patrons in the first year. This event was to further advocate how integral arts and culture are in the community and how Leduc was eager for it.
In 2020, the Foundry acquired it's first space in the Leduc Recreation Center. Although not the full vision of the project, the exposure to the community and having a place to call home, was a necessary part of the process.
Over the course of the pandemic the Foundry came up with creative ways of engaging the community in the arts, and after many shut downs, has seen significant growth over the past year.
In 2022, the Foundry is updating their Strategic Plan from the 2017 publishing, creating a grant and marketing strategy, refining the recruitment process and looking for more growth opportunities.
