Vista Academy is an alternative learning centre for autistic and special needs kiddos working on academic, behavioural and socio-emotional goals. 

Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Volunteer 3:1 Support Worker to assist in our small-group learning environment (Grades 2+). Working under the direction of our Senior Group Educator, you will support a group of up to three learners, helping implement individualized programming and ensuring students remain engaged, regulated, and supported throughout the day.

This role is ideal for individuals interested in education, psychology, behaviour intervention, or working with neurodiverse learners.

Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation of daily learning activities and lesson plans
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support
Assist in preparing and organizing materials for lessons and activities
Reinforce individualized goals (IEPs), accommodations, and learning strategies
Support student engagement, participation, and transitions throughout the day
Model and reinforce positive behaviour, social interaction, and self-regulation
Assist during escalations using trauma-informed and regulation-based approaches
Support sensory needs, movement breaks, and environmental adjustments
Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Supervise learners during transitions, breaks, and community-based activities
Communicate observations and updates with the Senior Group Educator

Qualifications

Interest in education, behavioural support, psychology, or related fields
Experience working with children or youth (preferred but not required)
Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow directions and respond to dynamic situations
Willingness to learn and apply behaviour and regulation strategies

While we specify this opportunity is flexible, a commitment of 1 or two days would be most ideal until mid June.
