Volunteer Art Class Assistant – Cool Arts Society

421 Cawston Ave #201, #527, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 6Z1 [map]
2 hours / weekly
The fall term ends on November 29.
Cool Arts Society is a non-profit organization based in Kelowna that provides inclusive art opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
We are looking for volunteers to assist in our art classes at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

As a Volunteer Art Class Assistant, you will support the instructor and artists by:
-> Encouraging and supporting students during class
-> Offering assistance as needed (e.g., tying an apron, mixing colors, drawing or painting alongside the student, etc.)
-> Documenting classes with photos of the artists at work
-> Helping set up and clean up art materials

What skills are we looking for?
- Patience and empathy
- Reliability and commitment
- Interest in art and inclusive communities
- Good communication skills

No artistic experience is required — just patience, enthusiasm, and a willingness to contribute to a creative, inclusive environment. At Cool Arts, classes are always filled with joy.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Volunteers will be provided with an orientation before starting. All materials are supplied by Cool Arts. Classes take place at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in downtown Kelowna. Parking is available nearby and the location is fully accessible. Scheduling is flexible and we are happy to accommodate volunteers’ availability.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
At Cool Arts, volunteering is about being part of something truly special. You’ll witness the joy of talented artists expressing themselves, and you’ll share in their excitement as they create and connect. Every class is a chance to build meaningful relationships, discover new perspectives, and even pick up creative tricks you can take home with you. And beyond the art, you’ll find yourself welcomed into a warm, creative community. One that often feels like a second family.
