Volunteer M&E Advisor

Sawa World is seeking a Volunteer Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor to support and strengthen how we measure, understand, and improve the impact of our programs. This role will play an important part in ensuring that our initiatives are effectively monitored and evaluated, with a focus on generating practical insights that inform decision-making and program improvement. The M&E Advisor will work closely with the Impact and Outreach team to support data collection, analysis, and reporting processes, and to help build simple, reliable systems for tracking outcomes. The ideal candidate is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data, with an interest in applying evaluation practices in a community-driven, international development context. Main Duties Technical Support - Work with the Impact and Outreach team to review and provide recommendations on Sawa World’s existing M&E framework, including a clear and practical Theory of Change aligned with our youth-focused programs. - Review existing data systems and the central database, and provide recommendations to strengthen indicators, data quality, and overall usability. Capacity Building - Provide guidance on appropriate data collection and analysis tools and methodologies to support consistent and reliable measurement of program outcomes. - Offer ongoing mentorship and support to the Impact and Outreach team, including quarterly check-ins to address challenges, answer questions, and build internal capacity. Thought Leadership - Support the Impact and Outreach and Video teams in communicating program impact through clear, evidence-based storytelling for stakeholders and partners. - Identify key insights from program data and suggest practical ways to apply these learnings to improve programs and inform future initiatives, while highlighting locally driven solutions within and beyond Uganda. - Share knowledge of relevant M&E tools, frameworks, and approaches that could enhance Sawa World's work
Certification or Education Required
Experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in a non-profit or youth-focused context. Experience in evaluating impact for virtual activities and projects (i.e. the reach through a webinar) is a plus. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using relevant software and tools. Strong communication skills, including the ability to simply convey complex data. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
