Volunteers can create their own schedule
VON is looking for volunteers to help with caring for a backyard garden that is part of the Adult/Seniors Day program. Description What you’ll be doing Typical Activities: Planting: Sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, and planting bulbs. Weeding: Removing unwanted plants from garden beds. Watering: Ensuring plants receive adequate moisture. Harvesting: Collecting fruits, vegetables, and herbs when they are ripe. Mulching: Applying a layer of material (like wood chips or straw) to the soil surface. Composting: Managing organic waste for decomposition into nutrient-rich soil amendment. General Maintenance: Raking leaves, maintaining trails, and performing other tasks as needed.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
This volunteer opportunity is a great way to meet other volunteers and consider volunteering with friends, family or colleagues. Volunteers will be able to make a difference in the lives of the adults/seniors who attend the Day program and benefit from the vegetables, fruit and vegetation from the garden that you grow.
