Micah House Refugee Reception Services

Micah House welcomes newly arrived refugee claimants to Hamilton with God's love by providing safe shelter, assisting with settlement and creating passages into the community.​

We are a non-profit Christian organization and we care for newcomers in response to God's call (Matthew 25:35).

Human dignity. We respect individuals based on our belief that each person is created in the image of God.

Hospitality. Our home provides a safe and warm welcome for newcomers to Canada, without discrimination.

Partnership. We believe in the importance of working in collaboration with individuals, groups and other organizations in the mission of welcome, settlement and advocacy.

Our volunteer needs changes based on the needs of the families but ongoing needs are: assist a client to a doctor's appointment or bank or food bank intake. When we get furniture donations we need drivers and movers for pickup and drop-off. Deep clean the house and drop-off meals or food and cleaning donations.

Host a fundraising event​

FLEXIBLE TIME & LOCATION​
Micah house will provide guidelines for anyone who wishes to raise funds for the organization through individual fundraisers.​

Examples include:​

hosting a give-back shopping night at a local boutique​

creating a crowdfunding campaign​

hosting a golf outing​

hosting a panel​

participating in a walk/run event and crowdfunding on our behalf​

setting up a charity workout at a local fitness studio​
