Reading Buddies

Volunteers are paired with a child for weekly one-hour reading sessions at the library from November to May. During these sessions, volunteers share their love of books while providing reading support and practice to children in grades 2–6. Activities include engaging in fun, creative literacy games and fostering a positive, encouraging environment. Volunteers help identify thier child’s interests, select appropriate reading materials, and build meaningful connections.
To succeed in this role, volunteers should be able to read and recite texts proficiently, communicate clearly with both children and adults, and demonstrate enthusiasm for working with kids.
