Volunteer Coordinator

Role Overview: This volunteer role focuses on improving the tutor experience across all stages of their involvement. You’ll help organize the tutoring team and you’ll be the first point of contact for many of our tutors after they are onboarded. You will maintain ongoing contact with tutors and ensure each tutor feels like a valued part of The Halifax Helpers community. Key Responsibilities: Organize and track tutor assignments and availability Support onboarding by updating documents, coordinating welcome emails or sessions, and guiding new tutors through the process Maintain regular communication with tutors and respond to questions or concerns Work with the Executive Director to deliver or suggest tutor training as needed Develop ways to make tutors feel connected to the wider THH team Ensure tutors are familiar with our expectations, policies, and updates Collect and share tutor feedback to help improve the program Brainstorm and implement creative ways to reach potential tutors across Halifax and beyond Requirements: Strong organizational and time management skills Clear and friendly communication Comfortable using tools such as Google Drive, online meeting platforms, and email Experience in volunteer coordination, tutoring, or training A thoughtful and approachable style, especially when working with new volunteers
