FUNDRAISING & GRANT WRITING COORDINATOR The Volunteer Well is a Canadian non-profit dedicated to fostering a more inclusive, compassionate society by directly connecting volunteers ("givers") with individuals in need ("receivers"). Through an innovative direct-source volunteering model, we empower individuals, strengthen families, and unite communities, -especially those facing systemic barriers such as women, seniors, new immigrants, low-income individuals, and marginalized groups. Our mission is carried out through our online digital portal, Generosity Hub (currently managed via a Facebook Private Group Marketplace), impactful inclusive programs and events, partnerships with businesses and philanthropists, and advocacy for generosity as a force for social change. ROLE OVERVIEW The Fundraising and Grant Writing Coordinator will lead efforts to secure funding from institutional donors, government agencies, and private foundations to support The Volunteer Well’s local and global programs. This role involves researching corporate sponsorships and grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and collaborating with leadership to ensure financial sustainability. The incumbent will work closely with the finance team to align funding efforts with organizational needs. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Depending on their availability, volunteers can choose to participate in any or all the following initiatives: Grant and Sponsorship Research & Development •Stay updated on corporate sponsorship, grant, and funding trends, including eligibility criteria and guidelines from corporations, government agencies, foundations, and private donors. •Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential sponsorships and grant opportunities aligned with The Volunteer Well’s mission and programs. •Assess financial needs and identify key institutional funding sources for potential concept note and proposal submissions. Grant Writing & Proposal Development • Research and identify suitable grant opportunities. • Write compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements. • Manage the full grant application process, including submission, tracking, and reporting. Fundraising & Revenue Generation • Identify and cultivate revenue streams, including corporate sponsorships, private donors, fundraising events, and public donations. • Develop and execute tailored fundraising initiatives that align with strategic priorities. • Evaluate and recommend strategies to secure major financial commitments. Donor & Stakeholder Engagement • Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies to build and maintain relationships with current and potential funders. • Create effective communication strategies to engage donors, sponsors, and the community in The Volunteer Well’s mission. • Utilize social media, website content, newsletters, and community events to enhance visibility and support. Financial & Data Management • Oversee registration, tracking, and management of all revenue sources. • Ensure smooth processing and accurate record-keeping of financial contributions. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 6 months of experience in fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship development, or related nonprofit work. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and persuasive proposals. Proven research skills to identify and assess funding and partnership opportunities. Good understanding of donor relations, fundraising strategies, and grant application processes. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with CRM or fundraising tools is an asset. Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate effectively with a diverse team. Certification or Education Required
Education: Minimum graduation (Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing, social sciences, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training in fundraising, grant writing, or nonprofit management is an asset.
