Youth Restorative Action Project

Youth Restorative Action Project (YRAP) is a Youth Justice Committee founded and run by Edmonton youth under the age of 25. For over 20 years, YRAP has played a significant role in transforming the youth criminal justice sector by providing programming, mentorship, and alternative restorative justice measures for Edmonton youth in the youth criminal justice system.
YRAP is mandated to work with young people who have caused harm while impacted by a variety of significant social issues including intolerance, racism, substance abuse, homelessness, family violence and sex work. We provide support for youth to take responsibility for their actions and facilitate a victim’s meaningful role in the process. YRAP is unique in its relational, “for-youth-by-youth” approach, our commitment to restorative justice principles, and the incorporation of mentorship and pro-social activities into our services.
