Seeking Dynamic Members to join the Board of Directors at WIN House WIN House invites applications from passionate, community-minded individuals to join our voluntary governance Board of Directors. Since 1968, WIN House has provided safe accommodation and essential services for women, children, and non-binary individuals experiencing violence. We operate two emergency shelters and one second-stage shelter, supporting more than 400 individuals annually with the help of over 80 dedicated staff. WIN House is deeply committed to building an equitable, diverse, and inclusive Board of Directors, volunteer base, and workforce. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals and encourage applicants who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, members of visible minority groups, persons with disabilities, and individuals of any sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We value diversity of thought and lived experience and seek members who can help strengthen our collective vision. About Opportunity The WIN House Board is made up of dedicated individuals who bring diverse professional experience, personal insight, and a shared commitment to ending gender-based violence. Together, the Board provides strategic direction, financial oversight, and governance to ensure the long-term strength and impact of WIN House’s mission. Candidate Profile: • Are over the age of 18 and can meet the requirements of a security clearance check. • Can commit approximately 5–10 hours per month to Board and committee meetings (both held monthly) • Are willing to act as ambassadors for WIN House at community events. • Engage actively in Board development activities and contribute to organizational growth. • Bring professional experience in one or more of the following areas (current or retired): accounting, business, community development, education, healthcare, human resources, legal, or communications • Have knowledge or awareness of strategic planning, government funding, or intimate partner violence, considered an asset. • Bring previous Board experience (governance, advisory, operational, or stakeholder), considered an asset but not required.
