Cariwest Festival 2024 - Parade Marshal

We are gearing up for a momentous occasion - our 40th Annual Cariwest Festival in Edmonton!

The Western Carnival Development Association (WCDA), founder of Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival, is a non - profit organization powered by volunteers. WCDA is committed to fostering cultural diversity, inclusion, & unity since 1984. 

Through our annual carnival celebration, we create a platform for the vibrant Caribbean community in Edmonton & Western Canada, to showcase their infectious music, energetic performances, savory cuisine, and share the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean with the wider community. We will immerse you in the history, traditions, and contributions of the Caribbean diaspora. 

Volunteers like you are integral to the success of our 3 day event. Whether you're interested in assisting with food ticket sales, guiding parade participants, tending to the Rum Garden, or one of our other roles, there's surely something suited to your talents and interests. No prior experience is necessary - just a passion for community involvement and a desire to be part of something extraordinary.

The volunteers in this position will help marshal the parade by:
- Standing at your assigned barricade along the parade route
- Answering questions from motorists and pedestrians regarding road closures and direct pedestrian crossing (you will be accompanied by police and/or security)

*Please note: volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
