The Yardbird Suite is Canada’s longest-running Jazz Club and this is due, in part, to the commitment of our Volunteers. Performances at the Suite generally begin mid-September and end in mid-June each year. There are regular weekend shows each Friday and Saturday evenings showcasing local, Canadian and international performers. We also host a Tuesday Jam session for local musicians to hone their skills and play with seasoned professionals.

Volunteer opportunities include all aspects of Front of House, special events planning, office duties and maintenance of the Yardbird Suite. Positions available during performances may include bartending, box office, kitchen, membership sales, and ushering. As a recognized charitable organization, we also host fundraisers and casinos.

The volunteer time commitment varies in length depending on the position. Performance shifts are usually about five or six hours. They begin one hour before the Suite is open and Volunteers are generally dismissed after clean up which is about an hour after the Suite is closed to the public.

Some of the benefits for volunteering include the opportunity to watch some of the performances, free snacks, tickets for future shows, monthly draws, and a year-end party with a Volunteer of the Year award.

If you are interested in Jazz and want to be a part of our vibrant team, fill out the application form. We look forward to working with you.
