Skillcity Institute

Skillcity Institute is a social impact organization that inspires and prepares young people for the fast-changing world of work. Our mandate is to foster equitable access to skills mentoring, career exploration & educational pathways for all youth regardless of their socioeconomic background. We equip young people with 21st century skills and develop entrepreneurial culture, by engaging them in exploratory project-based activities and programs that connect their learning to future careers.

We engage professionals and volunteers to provide mentoring and engage youth in activities that equip them with future-ready skills, competencies, and wrap-around support that all young people need to thrive. With you as a volunteer, together, we can make a positive impact, and be instrumental to helping young people maximize their potential and build stronger pathways to enriching careers and prosperous lives.

Skillcity offers school, career and peer mentoring. We focus on re-engaging at risk youth with their communities and offering them support to finish their education as well as offer essential workplace skills for finding a employment. Additionally, we serve youth who need relationship or community-based mentoring and support them in creating robust healthy relationships within their own communities.

Careers in STEM are highly competitive and can be intimidating. Part of our mandate is to increase diversity and inclusion in STEM careers by connecting historically underrepresented students in STEM with relevant mentors that expose them to a world of possibilities and inspire them to build foundational skills that equip them for successful careers in STEM and other related high-potential in-demand occupations. This way we can ensure that all youth have equal access to socioeconomic inclusion and participation in all aspects of society.
