Sunday Church Porter Volunteer - Various Edmonton Locations

Porter Volunteers provide safe transportation of residents in wheelchairs to and from church services. This enables residents to participate in activities and programs that contribute to a resident’s well-being. Volunteers can enjoy conversation and develop relationships that brighten the resident’s day.

Location/Time:
Millwoods Location (South Edm): Sunday at 10:30 am 

Vanguard Location (North Edm): Sunday at 3:30 pm

Kensington Location (North Edm): Sunday at 10:00 am

Key Responsibilities:
- Escort residents to and from the chapel using wheelchairs or walkers.
- Greet residents warmly and offer assistance before, during, and after services.
- Help with the seating arrangement of resident wheelchairs and chairs.
- Assist with light setup or cleanup duties (e.g., hymnals, chairs).
- Respect each resident’s individual spiritual preferences and boundaries.
- No care-related duties (such as adjusting residents in wheelchairs, toileting, medication, etc).
- Report any safety concerns or incidents immediately to staff.
 

Qualifications and Attributes:
- Friendly, compassionate, and respectful of residents and staff.
- Comfortable in a Christian worship setting.
- Physically able to assist with wheelchairs and walking support.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to follow safety protocols as outlined in orientation.
