Garden and Grounds Volunteer
Do you love spending time outdoors caring for all things green and leafy? The garden and grounds at Norwood Centre provide a welcoming space for children, families, and the community to enjoy. The successful volunteer will help the Program Support team to maintain and care for our gardens and grounds from June to October. Time Commitment: up to 2 hours weekly, flexible hours to be coordinated with Program Support Manager. Reporting to the Program Support Manager, the Garden and Grounds Volunteer is responsible for the following: •Weeding, watering, and maintaining plant beds around the building •Mowing and trimming grass around hard-to-reach areas (i.e. around posts, trees, and parking area) •Assisting with fall cleanup of garden and grounds (i.e. raking, and blowing leaves and mulch, tidying, etc.) •Tracking volunteer hours and submitting to Program Manager The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: •Ability to perform light labour such as weeding and raking •Ability to operate battery powered lawn mower, trimmer, and leaf blower and use gardening tools •Ability to mix weed solution according to written instructions The following qualifications are considered an asset: •Experience with gardening, lawn care or yard maintenance •Knowledge of WHMIS If this volunteer position interests you, we invite you to apply by submitting a resume or emailing your interest to: careers@norwoodcentre.com Please include Garden and Grounds Volunteer in the Subject Line of the email.
