About the Organization The Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society (ENW) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to building safer communities through crime prevention, awareness, education, and neighbourhood-level engagement. Our vision is Safer Communities by Working Together. The Opportunity ENW is seeking a committed Volunteer Director-at-Large to join its Board of Directors for a two-year term. This is a strategic governance role for individuals who are passionate about community safety, nonprofit leadership, and public service. As a Director-at-Large, you will work collaboratively with fellow board members to provide oversight, direction, and stewardship for the organization in alignment with ENW’s mission, bylaws, and strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities - Participate actively in monthly Board of Directors meetings and the Annual General Meeting - Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and organizational governance - Provide fiduciary oversight, including budgeting, financial accountability, and risk management - Serve on board committees or executive roles as assigned based on skills and experience - Support the Executive Director and staff through governance leadership and guidance - Represent ENW within the community and foster relationships with partners and stakeholders - Ensure legal, ethical, and regulatory compliance - Maintain confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest Qualifications - Experience or interest in nonprofit governance, community leadership, or public service - Strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills - Post-secondary education in social sciences, community development, human resources, or related fields is an asset - Experience in fundraising, finance, governance, or community engagement is an asset - Must reside in Edmonton - Must pass a Special Enhanced Police Information Check Commitment - Volunteer, unpaid position - Two-year term with option to renew - Hybrid participation, meetings may be virtual or in person Application Process Interested applicants are invited to apply with a resume and brief cover letter through VolunteerConnector or send an email to programcoordinator@enwatch.ca
