At Kids Kottage, we help any caregiver who needs support keeping their children safe. It’s simple – if you need support, we are here for you.

To stop the threat of abuse and to minimize the stress these parents are facing, we offer to take the children for up to 72 hours. The children are kept safe at the Kottage while their parents, relieved of parenting responsibilities for a short time, identify and implement plans to solve or mitigate the issue of the crisis. Parents in crisis who bring their children to the Kottage are met with support and encouragement.

Many of our clients come to us facing issues stemming from poverty, including food insecurity, homelessness, or even a broken furnace in the middle of winter. Some need treatment for mental or physical health conditions and need to make sure their children are safe so they can take care of themselves. Some are expecting a new baby and have no one to watch their other children while they’re in the hospital.

One thing most of them have in common is a lack of natural supports. For whatever reason, they don’t have the network of friends and family that they can rely on to help. And that’s why we’re here – both to help out when things get tough, but also to help them develop a community network of referrals to help out in the future.

Each year, we help caregivers from every shape and size of family, every ethnicity, every age, from every area of the city and the surrounding area.
