International Festival of Winter Cinema

Edmonton's iconic International Festival of Winter Cinema (IFWC) returns to celebrate local and international winter, mountain, and polar cinema on our giant snow screen! With a focus on films featuring indigenous perspectives, winter life, snow (of course!), and our changing climate, we are the world's only free outdoor all-winter film festival that pays screening fees.

Our fourth season will showcase feature and short films in conjunction with our programming partner, SilverSkate Festival, Edmonton's festival for winter sports, arts and culture, and recreation for the whole family. After a day at Silver Skate, join us, heated by blankets, hot chocolate or coffee, and fires, to watch the best in recent and classic local, Canadian, and international winter shorts and feature films.

We will continue to offer preferential programming of local films, including those that don't include winter themes.

Coming back this year is our 24 hour filmmaking competition! Stay tuned for more details as winter approaches.

Other planned programming includes an opening night party, filmmakers' panel discussion, family films, and 24-hour films screening.

The IFWC is supported by the Edmonton Arts Council, WinterCity Edmonton, Silver Skate Festival, Edmonton Screen Industries Office, #yegfilm, ATB Financial, and others.

**COVID19 DISCLAIMER**
The IFWC still aims to produce a 2021 festival. However, if it is cancelled due to COVID19, submission fees will not be refunded and all submitted films will automatically be placed in competition for the 2022 film festival.
