2026 Point-in-Time Count
2-4 hours
Join Homeward Trust Edmonton on Thursday, October 22, 2026, for the Point-in-Time (PiT) Count and help make a difference in our community. The Point-in-Time Count is a nationally coordinated effort that takes place in communities across Canada to better understand homelessness. The Count provides important information about the number of people experiencing homelessness, their circumstances and the services and supports they may need. Volunteers play an important role in making the Count possible. Working in teams, volunteers will visit assigned areas of Edmonton, connect with people who may be experiencing homelessness and invite them to participate in a short, voluntary survey. The information collected helps inform local planning, improve services and support Edmonton's ongoing response to homelessness. No previous experience is needed! Volunteers will receive training, work in teams of at least two and have support available throughout their shift. This is an opportunity to meet others in your community, learn more about homelessness in Edmonton and contribute to work that makes a meaningful difference. Be part of the 2026 Point-in-Time Count. Your time, compassion and willingness to listen matter.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers will build valuable skills in communication, active listening, teamwork and problem-solving while connecting with diverse members of the community. They'll gain hands-on experience in community outreach, survey collection and respectful, trauma-informed engagement. This opportunity also builds confidence, strengthens understanding of homelessness in Edmonton and provides transferable skills for future education, employment and community involvement.
