Volunteer Administrative and/or In-Person Event Support

12122 68 St NW, Edmonton, AB, T5B 1R1 [map]
3-3 hours / weekly
Ongoing
Authority and Responsibility:

This part-time, casual volunteer position requires organized, cheerful individuals to meet and provide information to our members and the general public. This includes responding to visits to the office and calls on the telephone. The Volunteer will also help with administrative tasks that arise, including filing and organizing materials. There is also the opportunity to help at our occasional in-person events.

This position would provide an opportunity to build experience in an office environment and/or with membership engagement for those individuals who are looking to enter the workforce.

This position is flexible and we'd love to match the volunteer tasks with your skillset.

Potential duties could include:

Main office volunteer activity: Answer phones. With scripts, guides and maps to aid reception duties, answer the phone. Get the person’s name and their problem — ask questions. If the call is for someone else in the office, transfer the call to them.

Assist with the EFCL equipment rental program including sorting items, cleaning items and preparing inventories.

Back storage maintenance. Help the Administrative Assistant organize our storage area. Break down boxes as needed for recycling and general housekeeping duties. Make and keep an inventory of what we have on hand for prizes and giveaways.

Filing: update files — prepare labels for files. Clean out older files as needed. Transition paper files to electronic filing.

Event support: at our in-person events, holding doors, taking registrations and directing participants. Help with the setup of the room.

Translation: if you know multiple languages, we have brochures and small documents that we would love translated into different languages.
