Young Chefs Support Volunteer
e4c's School Nutrition Program is a universal primary prevention program supporting children's healthy social emotional development. Through daily nutrition in identified socially vulnerable schools, the program builds students protective factors and resilience, fostering inclusive school communities to mitigate food insecurity and other risk factors. To further build student’s skills such as communication, self-advocacy, and social connections, as well as strengthen their food literacy, the School Nutrition Program offers an after-school program called Young Chefs. Through hands-on cooking, students are empowered to develop practical life skills, healthy eating habits, and confidence in the kitchen. Under the guidance of an experienced School Nutrition Program Coordinator, volunteers support 10-12 students as they learn to follow recipes, measure ingredients, practice safe knife skills, and understand the importance of food safety and making healthy food choices. Each session ends with students sharing and enjoying the meal they have prepared together. Volunteers are essential to this work. By sharing your skills, experiences, and perspectives, you’ll help enhance e4c’s Young Chefs program, increase our capacity to serve more students, and strengthen community connections. Join our team and help us change lives and grow communities. Time Commitment: Strong preference for volunteers that can commit to all session. Tuesdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm for 7 weeks October 21, October 28, November 4, November 18, November 25, December 2, December 9 *No session November 11th for fall break week in alignment with Edmonton Public Schools calendar* Location: Norwood School (9520 111 Ave NW)
